Deutschlandstipendium - German Scholarship
YOUR APPLICATION
Please read the information on the application procedure in advance and prepare your documents.
Students and first-year students are eligible to apply. The prerequisite is enrollment at the university during the funding phase. The application phase for the 2025/26 funding round begins on May 15 and ends on June 15, 2025.
Please use the Button "Registrierung zur Bewerbung" on the German page to get to the application portal. IT's not available in English. You have to register first before you can send your application.
Please use a translation app to translate the content from German to English (deepL).
Information events on the application will take place on: 13.5. / 20.5. / 27.5. / 3.6. / 10.6. at 1 pm in Webex room of Anke Mackowiack.
Applications must be submitted exclusively via the online application portal. Applications that are not submitted on time and in the correct form cannot be considered in the selection process!
Please check carefully whether all mandatory documents are included (declaration form on information provided and its forwarding, certificate of matriculation or admission, transcript of records, Bachelor's certificate if applicable and the translations to the German grading system).
Documents and certificates for your application
Your documents have to be divided into 2 PDFs. The PDFs should be uploaded as part of the online application procedure. Designation: Family Name_First Name _ pdf1 and Family Name_First Name _ pdf2. Each PDF may have a maximum of 10 MB.
- PDF 1: Family Name_First Name_pdf1
- Covering letter comprising one side (alongside top grades, students may be awarded the Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship if they have shown social commitment and attained special personal achievements)
- C.V. in table form
- PDF 2: Family Name_First Name_pdf2
- Form Declaration on submitted information /personal data (german)
- Current enrolment certificate (student applicants can submit this later)
- Current academic record showing the student’s academic achievements to date; new students should submit their university entrance certificates; foreign applicants should submit a translation and conversion of their grades into the German grading system.
- Master’s students should submit their Bachelor’s degree certificate; foreign applicants should submit a translation and conversion of their grades into the German grading system.
- Documentary evidence of:
- Special achievements
- out-of-school and non-academic commitment such as voluntary work
- special personal or family circumstances
Timeline Deutschlandstipendium
Mid-May - mid-June: Application phase with information events on the application and feedback phase for previous scholarship holders (application for re-approval)
Mid-June - mid-August: Review of applications and ranking by program manager Anke Mackowiack
Mid-August - mid-September: Evaluation of the ranking by the scholarship officers of the individual faculties
Mid-September: Meeting of the selection committee and adoption of the ranking
Mid-September - mid-October Matching of future scholarship holders with private sponsors
Mailing of scholarship confirmations in mid-October
Send out rejections by email and post at the end of October
Transfers to scholarship holders begin at the beginning of November at the earliest, with retroactive effect from 1.9.
Ceremonial kick-off event for all scholarship holders and sponsors in the Old Town Hall in mid-November
Parallel conveying
Whether parallel funding with another scholarship is possible depends on the amount and type of scholarship funding. As a general rule, anyone who already receives material support based on aptitude and performance that amounts to an average of 30 euros or more per month cannot receive a Deutschlandstipendium.
